Today’s the day where you gather around the dining room table with friends and family, eat as much as you want, and then take a long turkey nap afterwards.  In honor of Thanksgiving, I’m going to share everything that I am thankful for in my life.

family.  My number one supporters.  They are always there for me when I need them most.  They have raised me since birth and have loved me even before I was born.  God has blessed me with the best family in the world and no matter what happens in our lives, we always make things work and find the best in every situation.  I don’t even know how to put how much I love them and appreciate them into words.  They  have seen me at my work and my best.  They have pushed me to get through some tough situations and have always been there to celebrate my accomplishments.  Although it is so hard to get the entire family under one roof because everyone lives in different parts of the world, I am forever grateful for their love, support, presence, and impact they have made in my life.

my everyday elizabeth babes.  Without you, my blog would be a ghost town.  Every view is so  important to me.  Every comment keeps me going.  Every like keeps me inspired to make more content and to keep writing what I love.  I get so excited when I get DMs of people wearing looks that were inspired by my blog or taking my beauty tips.  You are the reason I love what I do.  I enjoy sharing my fashion and beauty secrets with you because I know you really care and appreciate them.  I’m so thrilled to have taken the leap and started this blog and created this little community of people that share like interests and are innovative and creative.  Thank you to each and every one of you for your encouragement.

good health, doctors, and access to healthcare.  This one might sound cliché, but I am grateful to live in a country where I can run to urgent care and get an antibiotic for my cold.  Whether its the sniffles or something much more major, I’m beyond appreciative to be able to have access to the proper health care.  I’m also grateful for all of the doctors, nurses, EMTs, etc. that take so much time to go to school and become trained on the healthcare field to be able to treat the sick.  Honestly, I should be grateful for this everyday but I tend to take it for granted.

I used to be very sick as a child and was hospitalized often and always got sick… and that really sucks.  I’ve only had a taste of what it’s like to live in a hospital and not be able to run outside and play with friends.  Think of all of the people and kids that are too weak to get out of bed because they are fighting for their lives every single day.  It brings a tear to my eye just thinking about a loved one getting ill or seriously injured.

I know what it’s like to be super sick in the hospital, and I also know what its like to basically live in a waiting room for months, praying for a loved one to wake up from a coma.  So the next time you’re watching Netflix and your dog wants to go on a walk in the middle of an episode of Grey’s Anatomy or you’re dreading about going to a work event, be thankful that you are able to wake up everyday and accomplish these simple daily tasks because others don’t have that privilege.

food and shelter.  Every Monday my boyfriend and I go to the grocery store for the week and I dread it. Don’t get me wrong I love getting out of the house and spending time with him, but it takes me forever to plan dinners for the week and make a list that sticks with a budget.  But there’s nothing like that feeling of opening the fridge and knowing there’s something to fill your belly.  Knowing that I have the funds to buy food to cook dinner with my boyfriend throughout the week feels amazing. Sometimes when I really don’t feel like cooking or I get frustrated with my boyfriend when we’re trying to pick a place to eat, I have to remind myself that I need to be thankful because not everyone has this privilege.

This year, my boyfriend and I decided to get an apartment together.  I’m forever thankful that we took this plunge and began this adventure with him.  Although our apartment isn’t perfect and we don’t have our dream home or anything big like that, I learn something new about him every single day because we live under the same roof.  I love having the opportunity to go on the journey of life with him, and to have a form of shelter we can call ours.

education.  If I didn’t have the opportunity to go to a four year university, I have no idea what I would be doing right now.  You don’t need to go to college if you don’t want.  It’s totally a personal choice.  I know some people who didn’t go to college and are super successful.  But for me, I had no idea what I wanted to do in life and that’s where college came in.

It was the most difficult yet most important (and fun) four years of my life.  I learned so much like how to live on my own, how to drive a car, (yes, I didn’t get my license until I was 19) and learned what I wanted to do which is blogging.  Also, walking across that stage and getting my degree is probably one of the best feelings EVER.

College is also where I found the love of my life.  I never thought I would be meeting my prince charming in college.  Now we’ve been dating for almost two years and are still going strong.  I can’t picture my life without him in it.

caffeine.  Z really gets on to me for being such a caffeine addict, but I can’t help it.  I can’t get through a day without at least one coffee and a cup of another form of caffeine.  Whether it’s coffee, a refresher form Starbucks, or a Coke or Dr Pepper, I just need my caffeine. I get the worst headaches and I am extremely difficult to deal with. I know it’s not the most healthy but I’m slowly working on it.  So don’t mess with my love for caffeine and we’ll be just fine! Ha!

my pup.  I can’t even begin with how thankful I am for this one. I started suffering with extreme anxiety and depression my junior year of college.  I would have panic attacks if I had to leave the house, would wake up during the night with nightmares, I never wanted to get out of bed, and even more.  I ended up talking with my parents and doctors and ended up on a prescription but that still wasn’t enough.  Then my parents agreed that a dog might be a good idea.

For my twenty first birthday, I found a highly recommended breeder, picked out a white miniature schnauzer and held him on my chest, and I knew he was mine.  From that day forward Presley has been in my life as a certified emotional support animal and life has been sweet ever since.  He gives me the motivation to get out of bed every day.  He brings so much happiness and light in my life.  He knows how to take care of me when I’m struggling to get through the day.  He’s my best friend and I can’t live without him.

texting.  This one is so first world but I’m grateful to be able to text and email in order to communicate because I get so nervous when I have to talk on the phone with someone I don’t really know!

google/ internet.  Ah Google.  It’s always there for me when I have a weird question that I don’t want to ask a real person.  It also helps in my work and personal life.  I can google “how to” videos and get inspiration from all over the world through my computer.  Without the Internet, I wouldn’t be able to blog and share the things I love with all of you.

this blog. A fashion blog is way more than just fashion.  It’s helping people simplify their closet.  It’s showing people the on trend styles of the seasons.  It’s showing women that you don’t have to have a lot of money in your bank account to look stylish and put together.  It’s helping those women who don’t have the time to put together outfits and helps women who feel they aren’t good at fashion give them the confidence to be confident and wear what they want and be proud of who they are.

lash extensions.  They boost my confidence and save time getting ready.  If you are debating lash extensions, do your research, find a great lash technician, and go for it.  Hands down the best form of glam.  You can take a nap while getting glammed up… how awesome is that!  I’ll definitely be doing an entire blog post on eyelash extensions soon!

retail therapy.  Although things can spiral out of control and I can buy too much, there’s always returns.  There’s nothing like a new pair of shoes to boost your mood!  Some might say this isn’t a good form of therapy, it definitely makes my heart happy!

travel.  I’m currently in England as I write this because I’m finally visiting my brother and his fiancé, I’m glad we are able to travel.  It’s nice to experience different places and cultures and not feel stuck in one spot in the world.  Traveling helps create memories and and helps you grow as a person and get to know yourself more.  If you have the opportunity to travel…. do it!

the life I live.  This kind of goes with everything throughout this list, but although I can be anxious at times and feel like my life isn’t perfect enough, I’m still proud of what I have, and where I come from.  To say that I’m thankful for a loving family, a home, food, good health, a dog, this blog, and all of the extra stuff is an understatement.  Words cannot express how enlightened I am with my life.  Although I always want more and feel that my life can be improved, I’m still so overwhelmed with everything I have and everything I feel on a daily basis.  I am so grateful for everything in life, the good and bad.

Being grateful shouldn’t only be on Thanksgiving.  Be grateful everyday.  Whether you have had a perfectly good day, or a really crappy one.  write down three to five things you are grateful for every night before bed in a gratitude journal.  If I’m being honest, I am a bit of a pessimist at times and this really helps boost my mood.  We are so privileged to have the lives that we live everyday, and have the opportunity to live those lives with the people, pets, and things we love the most.  I wish you a happy Thanksgiving holiday and stay safe this Black Friday!

How I Stay Organized During the Holiday Season

It’s officially November which means Thanksgiving is almost near and then Christmas is right around the corner!  I’m so excited for this season but at the same time it can be overwhelming how many things you have to remember throughout the week.  That’s why I’m giving you tips on how I stay organized during this busiest time of year.

1. Make a To do List

The number one thing that I do every night or first thing in the morning is write a to do list.  Usually this list consists of three to five tasks that I need to accomplish that day and it can be anything from finishing a blog post, to running errands, to taking a shower (yes sometimes I need to remind myself to take care of myself).  If I don’t do this, I will go totally off track and either sit around all day or try to do so many different things in one day to the point where I lose track of time.  This is definitely my number one way I keep organized on a daily basis.

2. Get a Planner

The second most efficient way I keep organized is with my Erin Condrin planner!  I got this one for Christmas last year and it’s so beautiful and helpful too.  You can totally customize these planners to how you want and they have space for notes, coloring pages, weekly view, monthly view, and a page to write events for the upcoming year.  I cannot live without using a planner.  I’ve tried putting appointments into the calendar app on my phone but it took too much time and it just didn’t work for me like a physical planner does.  It also comes with stickers inside and you can by sticker packs as well to make your life easier and more beautiful!  Which leads me to my next point…..

3. Use Stickers

This tip is optional, but it really helps me a lot!  I like to use color coded tabs for each month and use that same color tab in the weekly view.  I also use cute and fun stickers from this book to highlight my anniversary every month, make my to do lists more interesting, and just simply use for decoration!  I also like these stickers because they have a pack for school to better organize your assignments, functions, and more!  They have different packs for different events like weddings, school, budgeting, and even appointments.  Stickers are just a way to beautify your week and really help me look forward  to staying organized.

4. Color Code

I can’t stress this part enough.  Color coding saves me so much confusion and headache.  I color code everything from television shows I can’t miss, to appointments I have coming up.  For example, my to do list is written in black, my dogs appointments are written in blue, and blogging is purple.  I write all of the things I need to know on both the weekly and monthly section so I can focus on the week but also plan for the entire month.  Using different colors for all of my tasks is really helpful and is way more interesting look at every day.

5. Schedule Some “Me Time”

When you have a busy life, it’s important to set time aside to do something for you.  Self care is extremely important.  You can’t take care of others unless you take care of yourself.  Your “me time” can consist of anything from having a few minutes of quiet time to yourself in the morning to taking a bubble bath.  I schedule my “me time” every Sunday so I can take time to unwind and prepare for another busy week.

Being busy is easy, but being productive is hard unless you utilize the proper tools like a planner, stickers, and to-do lists.  One last reminder, write everything down as soon as you make an appointment or get invited to a holiday party!  You don’t want to miss important plans because you forgot to write it down.  My motto is: if it takes less than two minutes, just do it right away!  These simple and easy tips are a surefire way to keep you organized and productive throughout all of your holiday festivities!  Be sure to follow along @everydayxelizabeth on Instagram to keep up to date on all of the latest fashion, beauty, and lifestyle tips! What I Love About Fall

When autumn began, I couldn’t help but feel more positive and uplifted.  I’m not sure if it’s because the year is almost over and I’m feeling accomplished and excited for 2019 already, or if its the feeling of the holidays quickly approaching.  Due to my positive mood, I really wanted to share my favorite things about fall with you and take a step back from fashion for a second!

One of my ultimate favorite things I love about fall is the weather.  I haven’t gotten the chance to fully experience chillier temperatures in Florida yet this year, but last weekend we got a little taste of it and I definitely want it to stick around for as long as possible!  I feel like the perfect weather is between 65-78 degrees.  I can wear my chunky sweaters with my favorite denim and boots without sweating to death (be warned as soon as the temps drop I will be posting non stop in cardigans, jeans, boots, and sweaters… no shame!)  My favorite ways to spend fall is taking long walks with my pup and sitting on my balcony unwinding with a glass of wine at night  or drinking my cup of coffee in the morning.  There’s something about the crisp air that makes me feel invigorated.

Another thing I love about fall is the decorations.  It’s so hard to wait until the official first day of fall to put my decoration throughout my home.  If you saw my fall home decor post, you probably noticed that all of my decor is very neutral and matches everything that already exists in my home.  I’m more of a neutral lover myself but when this season rolls around, I love to see pops of warm oranges, yellows, reds, and browns.  Also, there’s nothing like the smell of a fall candle burning, filling your entire home with a pumpkin spice scent.  On Sundays, I enjoy spending my time cleaning the house, taking a relaxing shower and curling up on the couch with a fall candle lit to watch an episode of Gray’s Anatomy with my man.  It makes me feel so at ease and helps me recuperate after a long week and busy weekend.

One of the most crucial things I can’t live without during the season are fall treats.  I’m not really a pumpkin spice latte kind of girl but I do love pumpkin cookies and pumpkin bread.  I also love roasted pumpkin seeds with maple syrup!  You can’t forget anything cinnamon flavored either: cinnamon caramel macchiato, cinnamon rolls, cinnamon apples…. I go crazy for cinnamon!  This year, I’m trying not to go overboard with the seasonal treats like I did last year, but I do indulge every once in a while.  Along with the sweet treats, I go crazy for fall soups and dishes as well.  There’s nothing like a hearty bowl of warm chili or butternut squash soup to make you feel warm and cozy.  I’ve already started pinning some new fall recipes on my Pinterest that I can’t wait to try.  I’m hoping to try a new fall dish once a week.  I really want to have some easy, seasonal dishes that are healthy and delicious in my back pocket for dinner parties and guests in the future.  Once I find my favorite seasonal meals, I’ll be sure to share them with you.

Though the weather, fall decorations, and treats make me excited for the season, I can’t survive without fall fashion.  From October until January, I live in denim shorts, chunky sweaters, and booties.  That’s literally my fall uniform.  It’s so comfortable and casual which is exactly my style.  Lately I’ve been onto the mule and slide trend and I cannot get enough!  Pointed toe slides are my favorite right now and I think heeled mule are the perfect in between for booties and sandals which make them an awesome fall transition piece!  I’ve also been obsessed with wide brim wool hats.  They are perfect for giving an outfit a boho vibe, dressing it up a little bit, and are perfect for bad hair days!  I can’t tell you how many days Ive thrown my hair in a low pony or bun, left out some front pieces, and thrown one of these hats on.  I swear that they save my life when I don’t have time (and a lot of times too lazy) to do my hair.  Since I wear a lot of black, I picked up this hat and I wear it all the time.  I also bought a taupe one recently and I can’t wait to get it in the mail!

Finally, my all time favorite thing about fall is the feeling of the holidays.  I always look forward to October through December because it’s the time to visit family, celebrate traditions, and dress up and take sweet photos.  I feel more relaxed this time of year and also less anxious.  There’s something about visiting my childhood home and spending time with family that eases my anxiety and really gives me a sense of comfort.  This fall is going to be very different than any other one I’ve had, and I can’t wait to finally tell you what’s coming up, but I’m still over the moon and thrilled for the rest of fall and the start of the winter season.  Chill bonfires, quiet mornings on the patio, and the best company make for a cozy autumn season and a happier mind.

My Favorite Halloween Movies & Loungewear

Halloween is nearly upon us and I am so excited!  Ever since October first hit I started to light my fall candles and watch Halloween movies.  Honestly, I’m not a huge fan of the holiday but I love how cheerful everyone is this time of year.  When I was younger, my parents didn’t actually let my brothers and I celebrate Halloween so I think that’s why it’s not my favorite holiday.  However, as I got older they became more lenient and I was able to go trick or treating and go to Halloween themed parties which I was really grateful for.  Personally, I don’t really go out and celebrate the holiday by dressing up and hitting the town, but I do like to celebrate it my own way…. watching movies!  I’m super thrilled to share with you my favorite Halloween movies and the cutest lounge wear to watch them in!

5. It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

This film is on my top five because it’s such a cute classic.  It’s like you’re obligated to watch it in October, Plus it’s a great family movie!

4. The Addams Family

I love the comedy in all of these movies and Wednesday Addams has always been one of my favorite characters of all time!  It’s also cool because my parents were able to watch these as kids as well.

3. Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

So I’m going to keep it real.  I am not into scary movies or gory movies at all but for some reason, I liked this one a lot.  I just recently grew the courage to watch it and I actually really enjoyed it.  I’m a sucker for a musical and the darkness of this one did not disappoint!

2. Sleepy Hollow

I have such an obsession with this movie it’s not even funny!  I seriously watch it all the time.  If you can’t tell I love films with Johnny Depp in them.  I just love how he goes all in with a character he’s playing.  This movie is a little creepy but not filled with horror, it’s filled with mystery, and I enjoy all things headless horseman.

1. The Nightmare Before Christmas

I saved the best for last!  It’s funny, when I was younger I wasn’t allowed to watch this movie and now it’s mandatory for my to watch it throughout October and December.  My boyfriend and I constantly debate on if this is a Halloween movie or Christmas movie.  I say it’s both but he says it’s Christmas…. so we compromised and said it’s both!  This film is so classic and fun and I just can’t get enough of this movie this time of year!

Sunday Night Routine

The Sunday scaries can get intense at times, especially when you have a busy week approaching.  It’s very important to prepare for the week so you avoid feeling anxious and unprepared.  I’m so excited to share my Sunday night routine for you all to see how I get ready for the upcoming week!

In a dream world, I’d like to go to the grocery store and meal prep for the week on a Sunday but I love going grocery shopping with Zach and planning our dinners for the week with him so we do all of that every Monday after work since he wants to relax on Sundays.

To get my life in order, I like to check my planner and add everything in there and I also like to make to-do lists for every day of the week so I can be as efficient and organized as possible.  It’s so satisfying crossing a task off of my to do list.  It’s also much easier having about three tasks to accomplish per day versus having a super long list of things to get done all in one day.  I have this planner and I absolutely love it.  It comes with stickers and has weekly layouts as well as monthly ones.  The best part is its totally customizable and has add on features that you can buy separetly. That’s mostly what I do to get my mentality ready and motivated for the week so let’s get onto the physical preparation!

I absolutely believe that it is so important to take care of yourself because you only have one body for the rest of your life.  To prep my body for the week, I like to take a shower, shave, and use this body lotion to moisturize my skin.  Lately, I’ve been super lazy with my self tanner but I usually self tan on Sunday as well.  I’m seriously loving this self tanner right now.  It works for sensitive skin, it’s very moisturizing, and smells like coconut!

After my shower, I like to do a face mask and my lip care routine.  My favorite face masks are this GlamGlow mask and this Loreal mask.  Both masks deeply cleanse your skin and are cool and relaxing.  Right before bed, I pat this luxury marula oil all over my face and lips to add extra moisture.  After I wash off my mask, I like to exfoliate and moisturize my lips.  My lips tend to get dry because I have a habit of licking them too much and matte lipsticks really dry out my lips as well.  I start off by using an this lip exfoliator.  I recently ran out of an old one I’ve had for forever so i picked this one up and it does a good job.  Then, I use this lip mask from Mary Kay, rinse it off, and apply my favorite conditioning chapstick.

Now, onto hair.  I keep it super simple and spray this Redkin Treatment Spray in my hair to condition it and avoid heat damage; then let my hair air dry until Monday morning.  Every two weeks or so I like to use this hair mask.  I got it as a Christmas gift and it makes my hair super shiny and silky.  I use it after I come home from a vacation or after a week where I’ve styled my hair a lot.

Finally, my favorite part of my Sunday is slipping into my pajamas and watching an episode of Grey’s Anatomy on the couch with Zach in our clean house with a fall candle lit and a cup of hot tea in hand.  This stress relief tea is my favorite and I drink a cup every night before bed.  I always try remember to stay hydrated and have a good dinner to start the week.  Whether it’s healthy or a guilty pleasure food, I try to enjoy it and set the mood for a positive work week .  However you spend your Sunday, just do you and what makes you happy and calms your nerves.
