What’s in my Travel Bag | Surviving a Long Flight

Happy Thursday babes!  I hope you all are having a great week and have an exciting weekend planned.  I’ve been hinting at some exciting things coming up this month and if you haven’t guessed yet, stay tuned to find out!   I’m writing this post in case somebody is traveling for the holidays and needs tips to stay occupied while enduring a long travel day.  Just to give a little hint, I will be traveling this Thanksgiving and I’m beyond excited!    Today, I’m sharing the ways I’ll survive a long flight without wanting to pull my hair out from boredom.

I don’t take long flights often so when I have a flight thats longer than I’m used to, I get nervous I’ll be bored out of my mind and run out of things to do while waiting to get to my destination.  Over time, I learned a few things that help me out while traveling a long distance away from home.

pack a travel bag.

the most crucial part of surviving a long flight is to pack a bag with essential items that you can’t live without while on the plane.  Here’s what’s in my travel bag:

carry on list

Laptop Case | Planner | Portable Battery | Book | Headphones | S’well Bottle | Pen Lippe Balm | RX Bar | Satin Pillow and Sleep Mask

only pack a carry on.

So let’s get something straight… I like getting dressed up, putting makeup on, and doing my hair… and that takes A TON of product.  You don’t realize how many products you use until you have to pack it all in a suitcase.  When it comes to packing, all of the glitz and glam can be bulky and take up a lot of space.  Be sure to take the time and put all of your toiletries in those little bottles and invest in some travel size makeup, hair, and skincare products.  This will save a lot of space which you can use for fitting your clothes!  Another thing, get some packing cubes.  These little suckers are great for compacting all of your goodies so you won’t have to check a bag.  This will be the first time I will be packing all of my goodies in just a carry on and honestly, I’m nervous that it all won’t fit.  I’ll be sure to make a blog post all about how I will be packing for my holiday coming up in the next few weeks.  I’m choosing to go carry on only because the last time I traveled, I made it to my destination, but my luggage did not.  That was the worst experience I’ve had when it comes to traveling because I didn’t even have makeup wipes or pajamas and I traveled in the winter and it was my first time experiencing snow.  Call me paranoid, but this time, I’m determined on not checking any luggage.

dress comfortably.

One of the worst things about traveling is feeling uncomfortable in your clothes while traveling.  Most people would choose comfort over style, but I don’t feel like you need to choose! I mean, why not be comfortable and stylish at the same time?! Airplane temperatures can be unpredictable at times so it’s best to layer.  Personally, I get cold on a flight so I love layering to keep warm on the plane and then shed layers when I get to my destination.  Here are some of my favorite items to travel in:

travel outfit inspo

Zella Legging | Adidas Hoodie | Black Sneakers | Denim Jacket | Grey Joggers | Striped Tee | Grey Cardigan | Graphic Tee | Miller Sandals | Distressed Jeans

take a nap.

For some reason, I automatically fall asleep after the plane takes off.  I’m not sure if it’s because I get anxious before flights and them I’m relaxed after I make it on the plane, if the motion of the plane relaxes me, or I’m relieved that I conquered the airport but your girl just passes out for hours.  I guess I’m lucky because I spend most flights asleep, but if you can’t fall asleep, put some headphones in and listen to calming sounds like ocean waves or rain to relax and keep calm.  (Remember to download all of your music/calming sounds before your flight.) Also, set a timer on your phone before you take a nap to avoid over sleeping.

get some work done or research your destination.

On my upcoming trip, I’m bringing my laptop so I can catch up on work and blog posts while I’m on holiday.  I’ll most likely be writing blog posts or doing some sort of work for the blog while I’m flying.  If you’re anything like me and you always have to be doing something, then by all means work while traveling!  There’s usually wifi on flights nowadays, and sometimes you don’t even need it for what you are working on.  Whether it’s putting final touches on that work presentation, or writing a term paper for your college classes, take this time and be productive so you can feel stress free when you land.

relax.

Traveling can be a hassle.  Just sit back, read a book, doodle in a notebook, or listen to music.  You’ll most likely be needing all of your energy to spend living it up on vacation, so rest up while you can!  Whatever you choose to do to pass the time while traveling just relax, be prepared, and enjoy the journey!  I hope you have a joyful Thanksgiving and safe travels!

How I Stay Organized During the Holiday Season

Planner 1Planner 3Planner 4Planner 2

It’s officially November which means Thanksgiving is almost near and then Christmas is right around the corner!  I’m so excited for this season but at the same time it can be overwhelming how many things you have to remember throughout the week.  That’s why I’m giving you tips on how I stay organized during this busiest time of year.

1. Make a To do List

The number one thing that I do every night or first thing in the morning is write a to do list.  Usually this list consists of three to five tasks that I need to accomplish that day and it can be anything from finishing a blog post, to running errands, to taking a shower (yes sometimes I need to remind myself to take care of myself).  If I don’t do this, I will go totally off track and either sit around all day or try to do so many different things in one day to the point where I lose track of time.  This is definitely my number one way I keep organized on a daily basis.

2. Get a Planner

The second most efficient way I keep organized is with my Erin Condrin planner!  I got this one for Christmas last year and it’s so beautiful and helpful too.  You can totally customize these planners to how you want and they have space for notes, coloring pages, weekly view, monthly view, and a page to write events for the upcoming year.  I cannot live without using a planner.  I’ve tried putting appointments into the calendar app on my phone but it took too much time and it just didn’t work for me like a physical planner does.  It also comes with stickers inside and you can by sticker packs as well to make your life easier and more beautiful!  Which leads me to my next point…..

3. Use Stickers

This tip is optional, but it really helps me a lot!  I like to use color coded tabs for each month and use that same color tab in the weekly view.  I also use cute and fun stickers from this book to highlight my anniversary every month, make my to do lists more interesting, and just simply use for decoration!  I also like these stickers because they have a pack for school to better organize your assignments, functions, and more!  They have different packs for different events like weddings, school, budgeting, and even appointments.  Stickers are just a way to beautify your week and really help me look forward  to staying organized.

4. Color Code

I can’t stress this part enough.  Color coding saves me so much confusion and headache.  I color code everything from television shows I can’t miss, to appointments I have coming up.  For example, my to do list is written in black, my dogs appointments are written in blue, and blogging is purple.  I write all of the things I need to know on both the weekly and monthly section so I can focus on the week but also plan for the entire month.  Using different colors for all of my tasks is really helpful and is way more interesting look at every day.

5. Schedule Some “Me Time”

When you have a busy life, it’s important to set time aside to do something for you.  Self care is extremely important.  You can’t take care of others unless you take care of yourself.  Your “me time” can consist of anything from having a few minutes of quiet time to yourself in the morning to taking a bubble bath.  I schedule my “me time” every Sunday so I can take time to unwind and prepare for another busy week.

Being busy is easy, but being productive is hard unless you utilize the proper tools like a planner, stickers, and to-do lists.  One last reminder, write everything down as soon as you make an appointment or get invited to a holiday party!  You don’t want to miss important plans because you forgot to write it down.  My motto is: if it takes less than two minutes, just do it right away!  These simple and easy tips are a surefire way to keep you organized and productive throughout all of your holiday festivities!  Be sure to follow along @everydayxelizabeth on Instagram to keep up to date on all of the latest fashion, beauty, and lifestyle tips! What I Love About Fall

Fall 3Fall 6Fall 2Fall 8Fall 4Fall 7Fall 1Fall 9Fall 5

When autumn began, I couldn’t help but feel more positive and uplifted.  I’m not sure if it’s because the year is almost over and I’m feeling accomplished and excited for 2019 already, or if its the feeling of the holidays quickly approaching.  Due to my positive mood, I really wanted to share my favorite things about fall with you and take a step back from fashion for a second!

One of my ultimate favorite things I love about fall is the weather.  I haven’t gotten the chance to fully experience chillier temperatures in Florida yet this year, but last weekend we got a little taste of it and I definitely want it to stick around for as long as possible!  I feel like the perfect weather is between 65-78 degrees.  I can wear my chunky sweaters with my favorite denim and boots without sweating to death (be warned as soon as the temps drop I will be posting non stop in cardigans, jeans, boots, and sweaters… no shame!)  My favorite ways to spend fall is taking long walks with my pup and sitting on my balcony unwinding with a glass of wine at night  or drinking my cup of coffee in the morning.  There’s something about the crisp air that makes me feel invigorated.

Another thing I love about fall is the decorations.  It’s so hard to wait until the official first day of fall to put my decoration throughout my home.  If you saw my fall home decor post, you probably noticed that all of my decor is very neutral and matches everything that already exists in my home.  I’m more of a neutral lover myself but when this season rolls around, I love to see pops of warm oranges, yellows, reds, and browns.  Also, there’s nothing like the smell of a fall candle burning, filling your entire home with a pumpkin spice scent.  On Sundays, I enjoy spending my time cleaning the house, taking a relaxing shower and curling up on the couch with a fall candle lit to watch an episode of Gray’s Anatomy with my man.  It makes me feel so at ease and helps me recuperate after a long week and busy weekend.

One of the most crucial things I can’t live without during the season are fall treats.  I’m not really a pumpkin spice latte kind of girl but I do love pumpkin cookies and pumpkin bread.  I also love roasted pumpkin seeds with maple syrup!  You can’t forget anything cinnamon flavored either: cinnamon caramel macchiato, cinnamon rolls, cinnamon apples…. I go crazy for cinnamon!  This year, I’m trying not to go overboard with the seasonal treats like I did last year, but I do indulge every once in a while.  Along with the sweet treats, I go crazy for fall soups and dishes as well.  There’s nothing like a hearty bowl of warm chili or butternut squash soup to make you feel warm and cozy.  I’ve already started pinning some new fall recipes on my Pinterest that I can’t wait to try.  I’m hoping to try a new fall dish once a week.  I really want to have some easy, seasonal dishes that are healthy and delicious in my back pocket for dinner parties and guests in the future.  Once I find my favorite seasonal meals, I’ll be sure to share them with you.

Though the weather, fall decorations, and treats make me excited for the season, I can’t survive without fall fashion.  From October until January, I live in denim shorts, chunky sweaters, and booties.  That’s literally my fall uniform.  It’s so comfortable and casual which is exactly my style.  Lately I’ve been onto the mule and slide trend and I cannot get enough!  Pointed toe slides are my favorite right now and I think heeled mule are the perfect in between for booties and sandals which make them an awesome fall transition piece!  I’ve also been obsessed with wide brim wool hats.  They are perfect for giving an outfit a boho vibe, dressing it up a little bit, and are perfect for bad hair days!  I can’t tell you how many days Ive thrown my hair in a low pony or bun, left out some front pieces, and thrown one of these hats on.  I swear that they save my life when I don’t have time (and a lot of times too lazy) to do my hair.  Since I wear a lot of black, I picked up this hat and I wear it all the time.  I also bought a taupe one recently and I can’t wait to get it in the mail!

Finally, my all time favorite thing about fall is the feeling of the holidays.  I always look forward to October through December because it’s the time to visit family, celebrate traditions, and dress up and take sweet photos.  I feel more relaxed this time of year and also less anxious.  There’s something about visiting my childhood home and spending time with family that eases my anxiety and really gives me a sense of comfort.  This fall is going to be very different than any other one I’ve had, and I can’t wait to finally tell you what’s coming up, but I’m still over the moon and thrilled for the rest of fall and the start of the winter season.  Chill bonfires, quiet mornings on the patio, and the best company make for a cozy autumn season and a happier mind.

That’s everything I love about fall!  I know it’s a lot, but how could I not love basically everything this season?  Stay tuned and keep up with everything going on in fashion, beauty, and lifestyle this season @everydayxelizabeth on Instagram! Xx

My Favorite Halloween Movies & Loungewear

Movie 4Movie 1Movie 5Movie 2Movie 6Movie 3

Halloween is nearly upon us and I am so excited!  Ever since October first hit I started to light my fall candles and watch Halloween movies.  Honestly, I’m not a huge fan of the holiday but I love how cheerful everyone is this time of year.  When I was younger, my parents didn’t actually let my brothers and I celebrate Halloween so I think that’s why it’s not my favorite holiday.  However, as I got older they became more lenient and I was able to go trick or treating and go to Halloween themed parties which I was really grateful for.  Personally, I don’t really go out and celebrate the holiday by dressing up and hitting the town, but I do like to celebrate it my own way…. watching movies!  I’m super thrilled to share with you my favorite Halloween movies and the cutest lounge wear to watch them in!

My top 5 Halloween Movies
5. It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

This film is on my top five because it’s such a cute classic.  It’s like you’re obligated to watch it in October, Plus it’s a great family movie!

4. The Addams Family

I love the comedy in all of these movies and Wednesday Addams has always been one of my favorite characters of all time!  It’s also cool because my parents were able to watch these as kids as well.

3. Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

So I’m going to keep it real.  I am not into scary movies or gory movies at all but for some reason, I liked this one a lot.  I just recently grew the courage to watch it and I actually really enjoyed it.  I’m a sucker for a musical and the darkness of this one did not disappoint!

2. Sleepy Hollow

I have such an obsession with this movie it’s not even funny!  I seriously watch it all the time.  If you can’t tell I love films with Johnny Depp in them.  I just love how he goes all in with a character he’s playing.  This movie is a little creepy but not filled with horror, it’s filled with mystery, and I enjoy all things headless horseman.

1. The Nightmare Before Christmas

I saved the best for last!  It’s funny, when I was younger I wasn’t allowed to watch this movie and now it’s mandatory for my to watch it throughout October and December.  My boyfriend and I constantly debate on if this is a Halloween movie or Christmas movie.  I say it’s both but he says it’s Christmas…. so we compromised and said it’s both!  This film is so classic and fun and I just can’t get enough of this movie this time of year!

Now that you know my ultimate Halloween movie list, let’s get on to the cute and comfortable lounge wear you should be watching them in!

Fall Home Decor | How To Decorate A Small Space

Bar Cart 2Glam Room 6Living Room 1Dining 1Living Room 4

The only time I decorate my house is for the fall and winter holidays.  Even then I don’t go all out and have thousands of seasonal decorations because: a) I’m balling on a budget just like everyone else, b) it’s not practical, c) I like my house to be organized and tidy, and d) I don’t have enough room in my home to have boxes on boxes of seasonal items.  I live in an apartment at the moment and though it is bigger than the apartments I’ve lived in in college, it’s still not super spacious.  Over the years I’ve found ways to add seasonal touches to my home that don’t overpower your existing decor and doesn’t take up too much space.

My entire home is decorated with the same color scheme so it’s easy for me to move things around the house and give each room a new look without having anything clashing with each other.  When it comes to fall decor, I continue to stick with a complimentary color scheme.  Along with the style of decor, I don’t really buy any budget busting items so I find everything from craft stores, Target, Homegoods, TJMaxx, etc.  I’ll try to link everything I can or link similar items for you all!

I’ve had this bar cart since my senior year of college.  I was dying to make my apartment super glam and girly since I was living on my own with just my pup at the time and I ended up buying it for a baby shower to use as a mimosa bar and then I kept it for myself after!  Bar carts can get super pricey so I found this one on sale and went for it. Bar carts can be used for so many things.  I’ve seen them in offices as coffee bars, closet displays with shoes and accessories on it, and used as nightstands for everyday storage.  I just use mine as a traditional bar cart to add a glam staple piece in my space.

I normally have a vase of flowers but I switched it out for an apothecary jar with little grey and white pumpkins inside.  Originally, the grey pumpkins were orange but the color was staining everything so I decided paint them myself.  I also added a cake stand with a pumpkin on top to weigh down my cocktail napkins.  This fall printable I made myself but Pinterest has some super cute (and free) fall printables as well.  Lastly, I switched around my bar cart storage on the bottom shelf to add this mercury style pumpkin that matches my lamp.  My bar cart is my absolute favorite item in my home and I will most likely own it for the rest of my life!  I can’t wait to be a hostess for the holidays and dress it up for a holiday party or dinner.

Grey Pumpkins | Small Pumpkins | Basket | Throw Pillow

Since Zach and I spend most of our time in the living room and kitchen area, I decided to concentrate most of the decor in here.  These two grey pumpkins in the basket were originally orange but I painted them to match my home.  You can find inexpensive faux pumpkins at craft stores and decorate them anyway you want.  On my coffee table I went ahead and kept the same tablescape the same but removed the candles that are normally there and added small pumpkins and a fall scented candle.  White Barn candles are my favorite but lately I’ve been finding great quality candles for really affordable prices at Marshalls and TJMaxx.  My fall pillow is older from Target but there are cute fall throw pillows everywhere this time of year.

KITCHEN & DINING

Salt + Pepper Shakers | White + Gold Pumpkins | Tray | Pinecones

I chose to keep the kitchen decorating to a minimal since its highly used throughout the day and we cook and clean everyday so it would be a pain to move unnecessary things around all the time.  All I added was a small fall candle, two baby pumpkins, fall salt and pepper shakers from Publix, and decorative dish towels I received as a gift.  I love our dining nook with this tray I found that I’m probably going to use during winter as well and added some candles and pine cone vase filler.  Like I said, simplicity is bliss!

I’m going to keep these rooms short and sweet.  Just added some pumpkin vase filler inside of my pumpkin jar and used the remainder of the mini pumpkins on some trays on the counters.  Clearly I’m a fan of small seasonal touches and I love pumpkins and trays.

Glam Room 6Glam Room 2Glam Room 3Glam Room 4Glam Room 5Glam Room 1

Fall Flowers | Pumpkins | Mercury Gourd

Last but not least, my favorite room of the house…. my glam room.  Since one closet and dresser isn’t enough storage for Zach and I, We made the spare room our office and my glam room.  Here I store all of my clothing, shoes, accessories, and handbags and where I get ready for the day.  I recently purchased this bookshelf from Ikea and decorated it with fashion books and knick knacks that I had.  The mercury gourd is from Homegoods, the faux suede pumpkins from Target, and the mini white pumpkins are from Marshalls (couldn’t link these but linked similar ones). I’ve had this pearlized pumpkin forever but like I said, go get yourself some plain ones from a craft store and paint them yourself.  This one was an off white/yellow color but I repainted it to match the house.  I spend most of my time in this room getting dressed, taking photos, and writing blog posts so I wanted to make it a little extra festive.

Like I said before, seasonal decor doesn’t have to break the bank.  To make things exactly the way you want my take longer, but crafting is so fun to do with friends and it’s less pricey than buying them.  If I lived with girlfriends this year I think it would have been so fun to craft our own pumpkins for fall and put them around our apartment!  Just adding these subtle and simple touches can bring in the new seasons and make your home feel and look refreshed.  Remember to always look in the Target dollar spot and look for budget friendly seasonal decor styles so you can bring in the new season in style without breaking the bank! Sunday Night Routine

bed 2bed 1bed 3

The Sunday scaries can get intense at times, especially when you have a busy week approaching.  It’s very important to prepare for the week so you avoid feeling anxious and unprepared.  I’m so excited to share my Sunday night routine for you all to see how I get ready for the upcoming week!

In a dream world, I’d like to go to the grocery store and meal prep for the week on a Sunday but I love going grocery shopping with Zach and planning our dinners for the week with him so we do all of that every Monday after work since he wants to relax on Sundays.

To get my life in order, I like to check my planner and add everything in there and I also like to make to-do lists for every day of the week so I can be as efficient and organized as possible.  It’s so satisfying crossing a task off of my to do list.  It’s also much easier having about three tasks to accomplish per day versus having a super long list of things to get done all in one day.  I have this planner and I absolutely love it.  It comes with stickers and has weekly layouts as well as monthly ones.  The best part is its totally customizable and has add on features that you can buy separetly. Mine is black leather with my monogram in rose gold with a rose gold spiral as well!  Bonus: everything on their site is currently 25% off and free shipping over $75!

That’s mostly what I do to get my mentality ready and motivated for the week so let’s get onto the physical preparation!

I absolutely believe that it is so important to take care of yourself because you only have one body for the rest of your life.  To prep my body for the week, I like to take a shower, shave, and use this body lotion to moisturize my skin.  Lately, I’ve been super lazy with my self tanner but I usually self tan on Sunday as well.  I’m seriously loving this self tanner right now.  It works for sensitive skin, it’s very moisturizing, and smells like coconut!

After my shower, I like to do a face mask and my lip care routine.  My favorite face masks are this GlamGlow mask and this Loreal mask.  Both masks deeply cleanse your skin and are cool and relaxing.  Right before bed, I pat this luxury marula oil all over my face and lips to add extra moisture.  After I wash off my mask, I like to exfoliate and moisturize my lips.  My lips tend to get dry because I have a habit of licking them too much and matte lipsticks really dry out my lips as well.  I start off by using an this lip exfoliator.  I recently ran out of an old one I’ve had for forever so i picked this one up and it does a good job.  Then, I use this lip mask from Mary Kay, rinse it off, and apply my favorite conditioning chapstick.

Now, onto hair.  I keep it super simple and spray this Redkin Treatment Spray in my hair to condition it and avoid heat damage; then let my hair air dry until Monday morning.  Every two weeks or so I like to use this hair mask.  I got it as a Christmas gift and it makes my hair super shiny and silky.  I use it after I come home from a vacation or after a week where I’ve styled my hair a lot.

Finally, my favorite part of my Sunday is slipping into my pajamas and watching an episode of Grey’s Anatomy on the couch with Zach in our clean house with a fall candle lit and a cup of hot tea in hand.  This stress relief tea is my favorite and I drink a cup every night before bed.  I always try remember to stay hydrated and have a good dinner to start the week.  Whether it’s healthy or a guilty pleasure food, I try to enjoy it and set the mood for a positive work week .  However you spend your Sunday, just do you and what makes you happy and calms your nerves. I hope this article gave some ideas on how to make your Sunday stress disappear. Xx

Labor Day Weekend Vacation

Nike Disney 3Epcot entranceAnimal Kingdom 3

Let’s be real… in Florida, the most fun thing to do is go to the happiest place on earth to forget all of your adulting troubles and be a kid again.  To make that even better, Epcot’s food and wine event started on August 30, 2018 and continues until November 12, 2018 so what better way to celebrate a long weekend by a quick getaway to Disney to have a few drinks, try some good food, and ride a few rides in this hot weather.  I’m going to tell you everything you need to know from what I wore, to the parks, the food (and wine of course), the hotel, and my overall experience.

what I wore.

Normally when I go to a Disney park, I dress in activewear because it’s a lot of walking and standing, and it’s also extremely hot, sunny, and at times rainy.  Labor Day weekend was no exception.

Epcot 1Epcot 3Epcot 2

Top | Bra | Shorts | Shoes

The first day I wore this simple black Lululemon tank and white running shorts with one of my favorite pairs of tennis shoes.  There’s nothing like a little black and white combination that never goes out of style, even in activewear and it’s great to have a few neutral staple pieces that are easy to mix and match.  Also, I have this sports bra in black, white, and nude because I really love it.  I normally wear it for high intensity workouts like running because I am a little bustier so I need all of the support I can get.  This sports bra is even good for smaller chested ladies because it gives a little push due to the bra-like inside that claps in the front and then has a zipper closure as well.  This bra comfortable, gives great support, and doesn’t give a “uni-boob” which is my absolute pet peeve.  I got my usual bra size (34D for reference) and I would highly recommend it.

On the next day,  I went to Epcot again with my mom and my honey for some more yummy snacks and drinks.  Of course I couldn’t leave my favorite athleisure top behind!  I wear this top about once a week and I am debating getting another.  This color is so flattering on everyone and its only $35.  Typically, I wear a size medium in tops but in this one I had to order an extra large because I prefer a looser fit.  I added the link to where I purchased mine but I’m sure you can find it in other colors from other retailers like Kohls, Finish Line, Nike, etc.  Almost every girl has at least one pair of running shorts because they are so comfortable, and out of all the brands I’ve tried, I really love the Under Armor ones the best.  I think they fit better and are softer versus the other ones I’ve tried.  I sized up one just because I felt my usual size was too snug in the booty and thigh area.  I felt hot in my tennis shoes so I wore my Tory Burch Millers which were fairly comfortable for a few hours but then I got a little uncomfortable because of all of the walking and I don’t think my feet were used to walking in them for that long at a time.

Disney Springs 1Disney Springs 2

Dress | Shoes

For dinner, I packed my go to ruched dress because it is so comfortable, easy to dress up or down, and is overall a great staple.  I personally think it’s a little pricy for a basic dress but nothing beats a high quality basic staple that will last for years and comes in a ton of colors.  I wanted to wear my favorite espadrilles but they didn’t fit in my suitcase and there was a lot of walking at Disney Springs so I stuck with my go to sandals.  It’s still super hot in Florida so I kept my look summer friendly instead of dressing for fall.  I have this dress in four colors and it is such a flattering, budget friendly staple piece that will look amazing on every body type.

Finally, the last day for Animal Kingdom, I wore this easy combo.  My top is a dupe for a more expensive one and it has mesh all over it which was perfect for the little gusts of wind to cool me off.  Then, I wore my favorite summer leggings in this light olive color.  These leggings come in different lengths, are thin and breathable for summer, and aren’t see through at all.  They also go on sale very often so they are super budget friendly.  I wear these leggings multiple times a week and I know I recommend them all the time but they are seriously the best leggings for warm weather.

parks.

I was excited to ride a bunch of rides over the course of the weekend but Test Track stopped in the middle of the ride while I was on it so they had to shut down the ride and cast members had to come get us and we had to walk through the ride to an exit.  I was a little bummed out I couldn’t finish the ride but the cast members were kind enough to give everyone who got stuck a fast pass and I used that to ride Soarin’.   I love Soarin’ so much because it’s an easy going ride and you watch a projection of different part of the world that you are traveling through.  It’s so realistic and beautiful and they even add the smells into the ride.  Once we were traveling through Africa and you could smell the grass and dirt.  There was a different scent for each location which was super cool.

We were supposed to ride Spaceship Earth (the golf ball thing)  but there was a huge leak and the fire department didn’t declare it safe to ride.  We did however ride Mission Space, a ride where you go through astronaut training and land the space shuttle on mars or take it around the world.  Zach and I decided to do the more intense version where the simulator spins up to thirty five miles an hour to make it feel like you’re going into space and holy cow they weren’t kidding when they said it was the more intense version.  I was so disoriented and dizzy after that ride but overall it was super fun.

At Animal Kingdom, we had “extra magic hours” which is extra time in a park only available to hotel guests.  The park opened at 8am and Zach and I really wanted to ride the Pandora ride but we couldn’t get a Fast Pass for it so we used our extra magic hours and headed straight to the Flight of Passage ride as soon as the park opened.  It wasn’t even five minutes after we got into the park that the wait for the ride was over an hour.  We decided to wait in line because we really wanted to ride it because of the raving reviews we’ve heard about it and we are so glad we did because it was SO. MUCH. FUN.  Basically, you get on this simulator that’s shaped kind of like a motorcycle and watch a projection with 3D glasses and it’s like you are riding a banchi from the Avatar movie through the Avatar world.  I mean the simulator breathes like a real animal and you can feel it.  To be honest, the wait was so worth it because this ride was so realistic and fun!

Okay enough about the rides lets get to the good stuff.

Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival is seriously the best thing ever.  There are so many varieties of food and drinks to try from different countries and the festival lasts a few months so you don’t have to overindulge in one day, instead you can try something new each time you visit the park over the course of the festival.  Not going to lie, I tried a lot of food and a few drinks and some of them were so yummy that I went back and got them again the next day.  My top drinks were the St-Germain Sparkling Kir from France and the Mimosa Royale from Morocco.  The St. Germain was my absolute favorite because it was so refreshing and bubbly in the heat of the day.  I try to stick to wine and champagne only because I get sick from all the other types of alcohol and I was glad the park had a lot of options for every different type of alcohol you prefer.

When it comes to food, I absolutely loved the Charcuterie in a Cone from the Spain restaurant.  I only ate the olives and cheese and gave the meat to Zach but it was a super delicious snack, I went back and got it again.  Another thing I loved was the Beef Brisket Sandwich from America.  I’m not a big red meat eater but this was my absolute favorite thing I tried during vacation.  It had a little horseradish sauce on it which gave a little kick.  I got this from the same booth that had the lobster roll which I hear is amazing also.  I definitely ate too much food but I didn’t eat lunch that day so it worked itself out.

The food and wine festival has so many different varieties of food and beverages so everyone is bound to find something that tickles their tastebuds.  It is definitely worth the money to go and try a bunch of different things and have fun with great company.

hotel.

I know I didn’t get a lot of pictures from the hotel but that’s only because we were having so much fun in the park!  We stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and the hospitality cast members were so helpful and extremely nice.  The hotel was pretty big and we stayed in a two queen bed room with a pool view.  We stayed on the second floor and it was very quaint and relaxing.  I figured we would be able to hear all of the kids running around in the halls in the morning but it was actually pretty quiet.  The wallpaper was a map of Africa with different animals all over it.  The decor was done really well honestly because the furniture matched the wallpaper and that bathrooms and shower curtains matched the entire room.  Disney really makes your hotel stay an experience and we had a fabulous time at this hotel.

experience.

Overall, this vacation was really great because we had so much fun!  Minus the long lines for rides, (which is expected) our dinner reservation being pushed pack an hour late, the rain, some rides closing, we had a great time!  The food was phenomenal, the hotel was super relaxing, and the parks were such a blast!  Even if you don’t have children, Disney vacations are so fun.  There’s so much to do and see on Disney property you will never get bored.  Zach and I have a bucket list on Disney restaurants to try and hotels to stay at and this trip was so much fun together.  Little getaways with out significant other are so important so you can shake up your routine.  Even though we were tired when we got home, we had a great time together and we can’t wait to go back on another vacation!
