Must Have Holiday Lippies

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and also the busiest!  whether you’re just running out to grab last minuet gifts, or heading to a holiday party, you wanna look bomb at all times!  Over the past few weeks, I have searched for the best lipsticks for any outfit this season and I’ve rounded up the best  3 lippies to help you go from day to night in a snap!

classic holiday red.

If you can’t decide what look you want to achieve for a Christmas party or holiday date night, a matte face, neutral eye, and red lip is always a perfect go to during this season.  Pair your bold lip with a neutral party dress and you’ll be looking classically chic!  My favorite red lip is The Balms Meet Matte Hughes in the shade “Devoted.”  I think red lipstick is best when its a quick drying matte formula because it makes it easier to apply with less mistakes.

A cool tones red lip is perfect on any skin tone and make your teeth look extremely white, but getting that crisp and clean line around your lips can be a challenge because red lipstick tends to bleed.  here’s a great makeup tip: put your red matte liquid lipstick on first, and then follow with a matching lip liner.  Putting your liner on after hides the uneven lines and bleeding from the liquid lipstick.  I’ve finally found the perfect lip liner that matches this red lip and its Rimmel London Exaggerate Full Colour Lip Liner in the shade “024 Red Diva.”

pink pout.

If you don’t know by now, I love budget friendly fashion and beauty.  That’s why I’m obsessed with finding super flattering drug store makeup.  I’ve had my eye on the shade “Pillow Talk” by Charlotte Tilbury forever but I don’t want to spend $35 on a lipstick and then hate it. So I heard through the blogger grapevine that there’s a drugstore lipstick thats pretty much an exact dupe and boy I couldn’t drive to the store fast enough to snag it!

I’ve been wearing this lip color for probably a week now and it is the perfect shade of pink for everyday wear!  It’s not too nude and not too pink and adds that extra dose of brightness and color to your look.  The lipstick is Maybelline in shade “235 Warm Me up.”  This lipstick pairs perfectly with the NYX Retractable Lip Liner in the shade “Nude.”  This is the perfect lip color for winter that’s not super nude and not too pink either.  Run to the drug store to snag it before it’s gone!

lip lust.

I’ve been searching for a cool toned nude lip for what feels like forever now and I finally found it!  I love a good nude lipstick but there are so many shades and types out now that finding the right shade is kind of a pain.  I’m naturally fair skinned and medium toned when I self tan so it’s difficult to find a nude lip that compliments both.  This Maybelline lipstick in the shade “920 Nude Lust.”  When I picked up this shade I also picked up the Maybelline Color Sensational Shaping Lip Liner in the shade “105 Nude Whisper” and it’s the perfect match!  I think this lip liner is my new favorite and this lip combo is now my go to everyday color because I love it that much! This shade would be perfect for a sultry smoky eye because it’s a great neutral lip!

No matter where you’re going this season, you’ll look all dolled up and ready for your kiss under the mistletoe in any of these lipsticks!  Follow along @everyday_elizabeth on Instagram for more fashion and beauty inspiration and be sure to message me or tag me in a photo of yourself rocking these lippies! England Travel Diary

I am FINALLY back in the states from a long trip to England.  This trip was filled with fun, food, views, and tons of photos (so be prepared to see them all.)  I can’t wait to share all of the details from this amazing vacation like food, fashion, and views so be sure to keep reading!

fashion.

sweatshirt | denim jacket | leggingsscarfsneakers
hoodie | jeans | sneakers | beanie
jacket (similar) | sweater | jeans (similar) | otk boots

hoodie | joggers | sneakers
jacket (similar) | sweatshirt | leggings | scarf | sneakers

I knew that it was going to be pretty cold in England and I knew that rainy weather was very common.  Almost every day it rained a little bit.  There was only one day where it rained all the time so that made for fairly good weather the entire time I was there!  The crazy thing was that it got dark super early so by three in the afternoon which didn’t make for good lighting for photos (LOL).  I had to wake up around seven every morning so we could run out of the door to explore the town and snap a few outfit pictures.

Because I was traveling, I had to pack a little light so I picked a color scheme and stuck to it.  That’s why you see a lot of black, white, and grey in my outfits.  I planned on wearing a dress one day but it was super cold so I was only able to wear jeans and leggings the entire time.  Street style was definitely an inspiration for me in these looks and it was perfect to experiment with street stye looks because there was a ton of walking (like over 50 miles in one week to be specific) and honestly, I love how these looks came out! I think that I am going to incorporate more of it into my style.

food.

On the flight over to England, I was super nervous about what I was going to eat while I was there.  I can be somewhat of a picky eater and I have quite a few dietary restrictions so I was freaking out a little.  I didn’t get that many pictures of the food over there because I hardly ate and there was a lot I couldn’t eat.

There’s something called a sugar tax in England to try to get people to stop consuming so much sugar.  All of the sodas served in restaurants are either the zero calorie or diet version of sodas.  When I would go to a convenient store to get a full calorie soda (I know its bad for me but I need caffeine daily and Starbucks didn’t have almond milk, don’t judge), it didn’t even taste the same as the sodas in America because they use sugar made from vegetables instead of high fructose corn syrup.  Overall I did try new things like tai food and everything I got the chance to try was delicious.

views.

Lastly, I absolutely can’t get over how GORGEOUS the views were in England!  Holy Moly literally everything is beautiful there.  Almost every building is very old and I just loved the look of natural brick and stone buildings.  Every town I visited besides London had a small town, village vibe and I couldn’t get enough of it.

I also got the chance to visit old Abbeys where nuns used to live and was able to see some of the ruins that were still standing today.  My absolute favorite thing I saw were the old cathedrals.  I mean the detailing on those churches were so intricate and you really don’t see such elaborate spaces like that in the states.  The architecture on all of the cathedrals I visited can’t be recreated.  The photos I took of everything really don’t do these places justice!

Now that I’ve experienced a new country, it makes me want to travel to other places in Europe and experience different things and different cultures.  I would love to go back to England and see more things, try new foods, and obviously shop more!  Until my next adventure, follow along on Instagram @everyday_elizabeth_ to see more fashion, beauty, and life goodies! What’s in my Luggage? | England Edition

luggage.jpgairport 1airport 2

ball cap | sherpa (50% off today only!) | leggings (50% off today only!) | sneakers

I’ve finally made it to England and I am currently living the dream traveling all over town.  Though I am currently on holiday, I will definitely write a blog post all about my travels to share with you all this week! Until then, I figured that since I shared what’s in my carry on, and how I take care of my skin while traveling, I felt like I should let you peek at what’s in my luggage!  I can’t wait to show you all of the fashion and beauty items I brought traveling with me!

I’ve in Europe for one week, and it’s the best time.  The weather is definitely not like it is in Florida.  It’s cold, windy, and rainy for the most part.  Because of the chilly weather, it’s the perfect time to break out my winter clothes!  To keep warm while walking all over the city, I knew that I’m going to have to layer.  I’ve been wearing literally three shirts every day because the wind has made me so cold!  For the past few days, I’ve been  keeping it casual and paired my tops with leggings, jeans, or black denim.  My typical everyday style is usually cute and casual and this fall I’ve been experimenting with casual and trendy street styles.

shoes.

In England, the main form of transportation is by foot.  I have walked so much this past week and there are so many hills and stairs so I am extremely grateful that I packed comfortable and cute walking shoes!  I’ve been wearing these sneakers almost every day since I arrived and they are a dream!  there’s nothing like a good pair of comfortable and super cute shoes!  I also wore these sneakers for when the weather was rainy and unpredictable a few days as well.  The last pair of shoes I brought with me are these over the knee boots.  These boots have been a perfect blend of style and comfort while I’ve been on vacation.  I’ve been wearing these shoes out to dinner almost every night and they’re stylish enough to dress up a casual outfit and comfortable enough for walking all over the city.

  tops.

When I started to plan outfits for this getaway, I decided to stick to a color scheme.  I packed a lot of black, grey, white, and light pink.  Those are my top four colors to wear and they are easy to mix in match.  That way, I didn’t have to pack a ton of clothes and I could effortlessly mix and match and everything looked great together.  I packed a few thin long sleeves like these henleys and these side slit tees.  These tops were so comfortable and added a warm base layer underneath my chunky knit tops (plus side, they are under $15!)

I’ve been obsessed with chenille this season and I picked up this white one and this light pink one and I am so glad I did because they were so warm!  Also, I couldn’t forget to pack some comfy sweatshirts like these.  These are my absolute favorite sweatshirts and I own over five of them because they are JUST. THAT. GOOD.  Last but not least, this hoodie and this sherpa were lifesavers!  I’m all about comfortable and cute styles and these tops definitely didn’t disappoint!

bottoms.

Every girl needs a good pair of dark wash jeans and black denim in their closet.  They are so versatile and when you find a fit that makes you feel like a rockstar, you’ll wear them all of the time.  Jeans are extremely easy to dress up and down and are perfect staples for trending street styles.  I recently purchased these busted knee jeans because of their raving reviews (and the fact that they are on major sale) and they are so soft and cute.  They fit true to size and the ripped knees add the perfect amount of distressing.  I also brought my favorite black denim from the same brand.  I always loved the way black jeans looked so they are one of my go to pairs of jeans in my closet.

I also wore these faux leather leggings a few times already on this trip and they are so flattering on everyone (size up one) and are currently on sale which never happens!  Last but not least, I couldn’t survive without packing my go to leggings.  I’ve been wearing these around the house on chilly nights and I can’t live without them.

accessories.

The best way to pack light and change up your outfits is with accessories.  I packed my go to gold hoops  when I wanted to dress up my looks.  I absolutely love these earrings because they are the perfect size and are sleek and stylish.  I’ve always had an eye for minimalistic style jewelry.  They’re simple enough to add to any outfit and make you look chic and put together.

Last but not least, I had to bring my favorite crossbody purse and of course my Louis Vuitton Neverfull.  This crossbody matches any outfit and is large enough to fit all of my on the go essentials.  My favorite tote ever is by far this one.  Don’t get me wrong is a total splurge but it’s such an iconic bag and can be used as a purse and a travel bag.  I used this to tote my electronics on the plane and I’ve brought it with me all over England to tote souvenirs and my cameras as well.  It is totally a timeless designer bag and is definitely worth the money so save up and snag one!

That’s basically everything I packed in my luggage to create effortless street style looks!  Follow me on Instagram @everyday_elizabeth_ for more beauty and style inspiration! Xx

14 Things I’m Grateful For

Grateful 2Grateful 3Grateful 4Grateful 1

Grey Dress | Blanket Scarf | Utility Jacket | Nude Booties

Today’s the day where you gather around the dining room table with friends and family, eat as much as you want, and then take a long turkey nap afterwards.  In honor of Thanksgiving, I’m going to share everything that I am thankful for in my life.

family.  My number one supporters.  They are always there for me when I need them most.  They have raised me since birth and have loved me even before I was born.  God has blessed me with the best family in the world and no matter what happens in our lives, we always make things work and find the best in every situation.  I don’t even know how to put how much I love them and appreciate them into words.  They  have seen me at my work and my best.  They have pushed me to get through some tough situations and have always been there to celebrate my accomplishments.  Although it is so hard to get the entire family under one roof because everyone lives in different parts of the world, I am forever grateful for their love, support, presence, and impact they have made in my life.

my everyday elizabeth babes.  Without you, my blog would be a ghost town.  Every view is so  important to me.  Every comment keeps me going.  Every like keeps me inspired to make more content and to keep writing what I love.  I get so excited when I get DMs of people wearing looks that were inspired by my blog or taking my beauty tips.  You are the reason I love what I do.  I enjoy sharing my fashion and beauty secrets with you because I know you really care and appreciate them.  I’m so thrilled to have taken the leap and started this blog and created this little community of people that share like interests and are innovative and creative.  Thank you to each and every one of you for your encouragement.

good health, doctors, and access to healthcare.  This one might sound cliché, but I am grateful to live in a country where I can run to urgent care and get an antibiotic for my cold.  Whether its the sniffles or something much more major, I’m beyond appreciative to be able to have access to the proper health care.  I’m also grateful for all of the doctors, nurses, EMTs, etc. that take so much time to go to school and become trained on the healthcare field to be able to treat the sick.  Honestly, I should be grateful for this everyday but I tend to take it for granted.

I used to be very sick as a child and was hospitalized often and always got sick… and that really sucks.  I’ve only had a taste of what it’s like to live in a hospital and not be able to run outside and play with friends.  Think of all of the people and kids that are too weak to get out of bed because they are fighting for their lives every single day.  It brings a tear to my eye just thinking about a loved one getting ill or seriously injured.

I know what it’s like to be super sick in the hospital, and I also know what its like to basically live in a waiting room for months, praying for a loved one to wake up from a coma.  So the next time you’re watching Netflix and your dog wants to go on a walk in the middle of an episode of Grey’s Anatomy or you’re dreading about going to a work event, be thankful that you are able to wake up everyday and accomplish these simple daily tasks because others don’t have that privilege.

food and shelter.  Every Monday my boyfriend and I go to the grocery store for the week and I dread it. Don’t get me wrong I love getting out of the house and spending time with him, but it takes me forever to plan dinners for the week and make a list that sticks with a budget.  But there’s nothing like that feeling of opening the fridge and knowing there’s something to fill your belly.  Knowing that I have the funds to buy food to cook dinner with my boyfriend throughout the week feels amazing. Sometimes when I really don’t feel like cooking or I get frustrated with my boyfriend when we’re trying to pick a place to eat, I have to remind myself that I need to be thankful because not everyone has this privilege.

This year, my boyfriend and I decided to get an apartment together.  I’m forever thankful that we took this plunge and began this adventure with him.  Although our apartment isn’t perfect and we don’t have our dream home or anything big like that, I learn something new about him every single day because we live under the same roof.  I love having the opportunity to go on the journey of life with him, and to have a form of shelter we can call ours.

education.  If I didn’t have the opportunity to go to a four year university, I have no idea what I would be doing right now.  You don’t need to go to college if you don’t want.  It’s totally a personal choice.  I know some people who didn’t go to college and are super successful.  But for me, I had no idea what I wanted to do in life and that’s where college came in.

It was the most difficult yet most important (and fun) four years of my life.  I learned so much like how to live on my own, how to drive a car, (yes, I didn’t get my license until I was 19) and learned what I wanted to do which is blogging.  Also, walking across that stage and getting my degree is probably one of the best feelings EVER.

College is also where I found the love of my life.  I never thought I would be meeting my prince charming in college.  Now we’ve been dating for almost two years and are still going strong.  I can’t picture my life without him in it.

caffeine.  Z really gets on to me for being such a caffeine addict, but I can’t help it.  I can’t get through a day without at least one coffee and a cup of another form of caffeine.  Whether it’s coffee, a refresher form Starbucks, or a Coke or Dr Pepper, I just need my caffeine. I get the worst headaches and I am extremely difficult to deal with. I know it’s not the most healthy but I’m slowly working on it.  So don’t mess with my love for caffeine and we’ll be just fine! Ha!

my pup.  I can’t even begin with how thankful I am for this one. I started suffering with extreme anxiety and depression my junior year of college.  I would have panic attacks if I had to leave the house, would wake up during the night with nightmares, I never wanted to get out of bed, and even more.  I ended up talking with my parents and doctors and ended up on a prescription but that still wasn’t enough.  Then my parents agreed that a dog might be a good idea.

For my twenty first birthday, I found a highly recommended breeder, picked out a white miniature schnauzer and held him on my chest, and I knew he was mine.  From that day forward Presley has been in my life as a certified emotional support animal and life has been sweet ever since.  He gives me the motivation to get out of bed every day.  He brings so much happiness and light in my life.  He knows how to take care of me when I’m struggling to get through the day.  He’s my best friend and I can’t live without him.

texting.  This one is so first world but I’m grateful to be able to text and email in order to communicate because I get so nervous when I have to talk on the phone with someone I don’t really know!

google/ internet.  Ah Google.  It’s always there for me when I have a weird question that I don’t want to ask a real person.  It also helps in my work and personal life.  I can google “how to” videos and get inspiration from all over the world through my computer.  Without the Internet, I wouldn’t be able to blog and share the things I love with all of you.

this blog. A fashion blog is way more than just fashion.  It’s helping people simplify their closet.  It’s showing people the on trend styles of the seasons.  It’s showing women that you don’t have to have a lot of money in your bank account to look stylish and put together.  It’s helping those women who don’t have the time to put together outfits and helps women who feel they aren’t good at fashion give them the confidence to be confident and wear what they want and be proud of who they are.

lash extensions.  They boost my confidence and save time getting ready.  If you are debating lash extensions, do your research, find a great lash technician, and go for it.  Hands down the best form of glam.  You can take a nap while getting glammed up… how awesome is that!  I’ll definitely be doing an entire blog post on eyelash extensions soon!

retail therapy.  Although things can spiral out of control and I can buy too much, there’s always returns.  There’s nothing like a new pair of shoes to boost your mood!  Some might say this isn’t a good form of therapy, it definitely makes my heart happy!

travel.  I’m currently in England as I write this because I’m finally visiting my brother and his fiancé, I’m glad we are able to travel.  It’s nice to experience different places and cultures and not feel stuck in one spot in the world.  Traveling helps create memories and and helps you grow as a person and get to know yourself more.  If you have the opportunity to travel…. do it!

the life I live.  This kind of goes with everything throughout this list, but although I can be anxious at times and feel like my life isn’t perfect enough, I’m still proud of what I have, and where I come from.  To say that I’m thankful for a loving family, a home, food, good health, a dog, this blog, and all of the extra stuff is an understatement.  Words cannot express how enlightened I am with my life.  Although I always want more and feel that my life can be improved, I’m still so overwhelmed with everything I have and everything I feel on a daily basis.  I am so grateful for everything in life, the good and bad.

Being grateful shouldn’t only be on Thanksgiving.  Be grateful everyday.  Whether you have had a perfectly good day, or a really crappy one.  write down three to five things you are grateful for every night before bed in a gratitude journal.  If I’m being honest, I am a bit of a pessimist at times and this really helps boost my mood.  We are so privileged to have the lives that we live everyday, and have the opportunity to live those lives with the people, pets, and things we love the most.  I wish you a happy Thanksgiving holiday and stay safe this Black Friday!

Skincare While Traveling

Out of Office Travel Set

If you haven’t gotten the hints by now, I’ve been hinting that I am traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday.  I’m not ready to reveal where just yet, but it is super exciting and I’m dying to tell you!  In honor of college fall breaks and Thanksgiving travels coming up, I’m sharing how to take care of your skin while traveling, flying, or on vacation.  Whether it’s the holiday treats, traveling stress, or final exams creeping up on you, your skin can take a toll for the worse which is why it is so important to know how to take care of your skin when life takes over.

My skin gets freaked out when I travel and I’m not sure if it’s because of the airplane, different foods I’m eating, or a different routine.  Before we even get to the actual traveling part, lets talk about a few things:

have a skincare routine.

First things first: if you don’t have a skincare routine by now… you need one.  Having a skincare routine is crucial to fighting aging, skin cancers, and acne.  For a basic skincare routine, all you need is a gentle cleanser, toner, and a light moisturizer with SPF.  After you get the hang of a basic routine, you can add a night serum or acne spot treatment if you feel the need.  I’ve heard that vitamin C serums are great for every skin type and I’ve used this acne spot treatment for years now and I still recommend it to everyone!  I’ll make a post all about my morning skincare routine soon, but for now, read my nightly skincare routine to see all of the products I’m currently using.

invest in travel sized products.

Before you even start packing for your trip, think about what skincare products you can’t live without and either decant them into travel sized bottles or purchase your holy grail products in prepackaged travel sizes.  This Clinique gift set comes with three full sized products and three travel sized ones.  I’ve used this set forever now and it’s still my favorite.  You can also purchase these products separately if you wish.  Personally, I just buy my skincare products in travel sized containers because it’s more convenient for me and saves me time, but feel free to do as you wish.

the night before.

The night before traveling it’s crucial to prep your skin by exfoliating and hydrating.  the night before your flight exfoliate your skin with an exfoliating wash or mask.  (I recommend the Simple Smoothing Facial Scrub.  It uses rice granules instead of micro-beads so it isn’t harming the environment.  It’s also fragrance free to avoid skin irritation.)  After you have finished exfoliating, follow up with your typical skincare routine.

the morning before.

The morning before your flight is the perfect time to lock in moisture and hydrate your skin.  I like to use a hydrating mask like the Garnier Moisture Bomb sheet mask or the Neutrogena Hydro Boost sheet mask.  I prefer sheet masks over traditional ones because I can multitask and I can also bring one to do on the plane.  Both of these masks are super hydrating and leave your skin refreshed and nourished!

while flying.

My number one recommendation: if you can, avoid wearing makeup on the plane.  Makeup can clog your pores and the air is super dry on an airplane which can cause breakouts.  If you have a meeting or have plans after you land, bring a small makeup bag (I’m obsessed with this one) with your makeup basics along with a cleanser and moisturizer to apply in the airplane bathroom before landing!

Since the air is so drying on airplanes, it’s important to retain skin’s moisture, and there’s no better way to do so than with a facial oil.  This Drunk Elephant marula oil is the one and only facial oil I’ve ever tried and it will aid in avoiding dehydration on the plane. I apply a few drops before the flight.  (I have combination/dry skin so I apply 3 drops every hour on the flight but for oily skin I’s only apply 2 drops.)

after landing.

Once you get to your destination, be sure to take extra care of your skin the first night.  I like to exfoliate again and apply a mixture of the marula oil and a good moisturizer.  I stick to my usual moisturizer which is the Clinique Moisturizing Lotion+.  I don’t use a bunch of different products because of my sensitive and acne prone skin.  If I feel the need I will also use another sheet mask that night too.

hydrate.

It’s so important to drink tons of water while traveling to avoid breakouts and keep your skin hydrated.  Water really does wonders for your body and skin and when you’re traveling, take all of the moisture and hydration you can get!  Don’t forget to take care of the rest of your skin while traveling: use body lotion daily, apply hand cream on the plane and before bed, (this Neutrogena one is my favorite and can be used on your knees, elbows, and lips too!) and always bring lip balm.  (Extremely obsessed with this Burt’s Bees one!)  There’s nothing worse than dry, chapped lips!

Whether you have dry or oily skin, hydration is crucial to maintaining your skin’s balance.  Even oily skin can suffer from traveling due to producing more oil in order to overcompensate from moisture loss.  With dry skin, moisture loss can cause skin flakes, painful breakouts, and cracked skin.  Be sure to follow these steps to keep your skin happy and hydrated!
