It’s finally the time of year where school is back in session, the weather is starting to cool down, (unless you live in Florida) and football season is back. Although I’m not a big sports fan, I love tailgating and getting dressed up in my team colors and going out to good tailgate. Tailgating is basically the collegiate fashion runway nowadays which is why sometimes I stress out on what to wear. Since my personal style is a little different, an old fashioned team shirt or football jersey dress isn’t my thing. Don’t get me wrong, I think that a cute cut up tee shirt and a football jersey as a dress are cute, flattering, and sporty; it’s just not my style. If you are like me and stress out trying to find something to wear to a game, keep reading to get some inspiration and ideas that you can recreate!
Since my alma mater is the University of South Florida, all of these looks will be in their colors (green & gold) but I chose things that were simple enough to incorporate your team colors!
For the Trendsetter
If you read my last post, you know I am a die hard fan of flare jeans. so this outfit is one of my favorites! Flares just makes your legs look longer and I am so short I need all the lengthening illusions I can get. You can always dress them up or down by wearing a nicer blouse in your team color or a cute crop top with frills but I went casual with this basic tank and platform espadrilles. Espadrilles are much more comfortable than wedges which is perfect for long walks through the stadium or standing all day at a tailgate.
For the Casual Cutie
There’s nothing like a timeless, casual, and comfortable game day outfit. For those long hours of tailgating and the game itself, it can total about eight or more hours and you don’t want to be sitting in a bodysuit and tight denim shorts all day after drinking and eating stadium food that makes you bloated. I love an easy legging, sneaker, and jacket combo because it’s cute, on trend, and looks easy and effortless. You can most likely find your team colors in a shirt or jacket so this is an easy peasy look. Plus, you’ll still look great in photos with your girl gang or lover boy.
For the Glam Girl
This is probably my favorite look out of the bunch because its so cute and a little bit glamorous. I love a good top and skort combination because shorts are just so comfortable and cute and you can’t go wrong with an off the shoulder top and espadrilles. I paired this outfit with gold accessories to bring in the gold school color but you could wear whatever you want with it!
For the Girly Girl
Almost every girl has a cute little black/white dress or romper in their closet. I love this combination so much because its so simple yet super cute and always on trend. Dress it up by wearing a metallic sandal or espadrille, try team colored statement earrings, or a team button (note. you can find them on Etsy if you aren’t in a sorority) I absolutely recommend investing in a black or white colored dress or romper because they are super comfortable, are so versatile, and are super easy to find!
These are my favorite easy and cute game day looks that are simple to recreate on your own. Let me know what other game day looks you would like to see or DM me a photo of your own recreation of one of my game day looks at @everydayxelizabeth on Instagram. Xx
